ICHTS 10 Year Service Awards were presented to two individuals for their outstanding and consistent contributions to the society:

Dr. David Ke was promoted to Research Fellow at Pfizer, Inc.

Dr. David Ke was promoted to Research Fellow, the highest technical recognition at Pfizer, Inc. Dr. Ke has authored and co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications and more than 30 patents. He is the key inventor of Oporia (Lasofoxifene), a drug featured by the Time Magazine as one of the six most promising drugs for the market next year. Several of our members have received awards and been recognized over the past few months. Let us congratulate these members for their accomplishments.

April 2004. Dr. Hong-Wen Deng, Chairman of ICHTS Publication Committee, was invited to join the Editorial Board of the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, an appointment that will commence from July 2004 and last for five years.
 
April 2004. Dr. Chunyuan Guo, Treasurer of ICHTS, was invited as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Center for Research Resources (NCRR). Dr. Guo is currently a Medical Monitor and Clinical Scientist at Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals.
 
April 2004. Dr. Hongmei Li, an ICHTS member at Yale University, had been awarded a travel award to attend the "Bone Anabolics" meeting in Washington DC to be held in May 2004. Her presentation is entitled: "IRAK-M is a negative regulator of osteoclasts". Dr. Li was also a recipient of the ICHTS travel award to attend the ASBMR 2003 meeting held in Minneapolis.
 
March 2004. Dr. Hong-Wen Deng, Chairman of ICHTS Publication Committee, was awarded IOF Servier Young Investigator Research Fellowship (40,000 Euros). IOF stands for International Osteoporosis Foundation, and is based in Lyon, France.
 
March 2004. Dr. Di Chen, Vice President of ICHTS, was invited to deliver a Keynote Lecture at the 5th International Conference on Bone Morphogenetic Proteins which will be held in Nagoya, Japan in Sept.12-16, 2004.
 
March 2004. The following ICHTS members were rewarded with ICHTS travel awards to attend the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS) meeting, held in March 2004 in San Francisco.

February 2004. Dr. Di Chen, Vice President of ICHTS, was appointed Visiting Professor at Nankai University, China.
 
November 2003. Dr. Hong-Wen Deng, Chairman of ICHTS Publication Committee, was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal (Nov. 3, 2003) on the study of genetics of osteoporosis and its application to the human health.
 
October 2003. Dr. Webster SS Jee, Chairman of the ICHTS Board of Directors, was presented the Special Service Award at the International Conference of Osteoporosis and Bone Research (ICOBR¡¯03) held in Beijing, Oct. 2003.
 
September 2003. Dr. Webster SS Jee, was awarded The Gideon A. Rodan ASBMR Excellence in Mentorship Awards at the 2003 ASBMR meeting. The Award is given annually in recognition of outstanding support provided by a person, a group of people or an institution who or that helps promote the independent careers of young investigators in bone and mineral metabolism. Dr. Jee was the third recipient of this prestigious award.
 
September 2003. Members of ICHTS, Drs. Yu-Feng Huang, Weibin Shi, Liyu Wu, Zhou-Sheng Xiao, Xuelin Li and Wei Yao are among the recipients of the 2003 ASBMR Young Investigator Award.
 
ICHTS Travel Award Announcement
