The International Chinese Hard Tissue Society (ICHTS) will hold an annual meeting conjunct with the Annual Meeting of ASBMR, September 16, 2007. This ICHTS annual meeting is designed to provide a forum in which to here the frontier of advanced topics in recent mineral tissue research development, to bridge scholars under interdisciplinary research fields, to explore career success experience, and to promote young investigators in the field. Dear Members of ICHTS,
Call for Abstracts of Travel Awards Competition for the Web Jee Young Investigator Award
Extended Abstract Deadline: August 30, 2007.
Individuals whose abstracts have been accepted to present in the 29th ASBMR meeting are encouraged to submit their accepted abstracts to be considered for the awards. To encourage young investigators in this promising research area, at least 3 Webster Jee Young Investigator awards will be announced in the meeting.
Eligibility: 1) First author, 2) Status of graduate students, medical students, postdoc or equivalent, and obtained PhD or MD less than 5 years, 3) ICHTS member, and 4) Not received ICHTS Award in previous meetings.
Qualified abstracts will be peer reviewed by a nomination committee. The winners will be announced, and each recipient will receive an award certificate and an award check (USD 500) at the meeting.
Abstracts should be submitted to: ichts.org@gmail.com.

Dear Members of ICHTS,
The terms of 5 members of Board Directors (BOD) of ICHTS will expire by September 2007. They are: Kerong Dai; Hong-wen Deng; Xu Feng; Jian Q. Feng and Ling Qin. It is time for ICHTS members to look for candidates for the 2007 election of BOD. The term of the BOB is 3 years, serving the society from September 2007 to September 2010. The past members of BOD can be re-elected if they are willing to be nominated.
Electing new members of BOD is a very important constitutional activity for ICHTS members. As stated in the ICHTS by-law, any member of ICHTS who wishes to serve and contribute to the society is eligible to be elected as member of BOD and president-elect.

On behalf of the Chinese Society of Osteoporosis and Bone Mineral Research (CSOBMR) and International Chinese Hard Tissue Society (ICHTS), we are honored to invite you to the International Conference on Osteoporosis and Bone Research to be held on Oct 18-21, 2007 in Shanghai, China.
The scientific program will cover an array of topics on osteoporosis, bone and mineral research, including the latest advances in basic science, prevention and clinical treatment of osteoporosis and other bone-related diseases. The conference has invited lots of international renowned professors and doctors to give us lectures. The conference will also organize Meet-the-Professor Workshops that mainly focus on clinical and basic research methodology and scientific paper writing. We hope the scientific arrangement of the conference will be both educational and enjoyable.

| Report: 4th Annual Meeting of International Chinese Hard Tissue Society (ICHTS)conjunct in 53rd ORS Conference

The ICHTS has held its 4th annual meeting conjunct with the 53rd Annual Meeting of Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) at San Diego Marriott
Hotel & Marina, on February 11, 2007. There are approximately 100 attendees for the meeting. It was very productive and successful meeting.
After more than a decade of development, ICHTS has been growing rapidly. This ICHTS annual meeting in ORS is designed to bridge scholars under interdisciplinary
research fields, to explore career success experience, and to provide a forum in which to discuss current and
future society directions. A distinguished key note speech was delivered by Professor Shu Chien, founding Chair of
Bioengineering Department, and the Director of the Whitaker Bioengineering Institute at the UCSD. His presentation, entitled “HOW TO SUCCEED IN CAREER
DEVELOPMENT? - A Journey in Quest of Knowledge and Life,? was well-received and attracted by the audience, from which we have chance to hear a real story from a well
established scientist.

| Report:2006 Musculoskeletal Research Workshop Conjunction in the 1st International COA-CORS Conference, 2006 in Beijing

| The ICHTS, along with the International Orthopaedic Research Society (SIROT), has
sponsored a Musculoskeletal Research Workshop in the first combined conference of the
Chinese Orthopedic Research Society (CORS) and Chinese Orthopedic Association
(COA) in Beijing, November 11, 2006. The workshop was extremely well-received. The
lecture hall, holding 400 people, was packed through the entire workshop. The last
session was extended to 10 pm in the evening. This is an extremely successful meeting.
